Open call for coaches, judges, and adult supporters
CSSDA is building coaching support for both Team China WSDC and Team China WIDPSC. We welcome experienced educators who want to contribute in sustained or flexible roles.
We need experienced educators
CSSDA is inviting expressions of interest from coaches for both Team China WSDC and Team China WIDPSC. We are looking for adults who care about competitive excellence, student development, and professional standards. Some of these roles are regular paid positions, including Head Coach and Assistant Coach appointments. Others are more flexible and can be tailored around availability, such as delivering specialist lectures, judging practice debates, running short training blocks, or advising students in event-specific preparation.
Our ideal coaching network is broad. We want experienced national-team coaches, China-based educators, alumni who are ready to step into adult roles, and international debate professionals who can add perspective and depth. We also welcome adults who may not be able to commit to a full season but who can still meaningfully help the team through guest teaching, spar adjudication, selection support, or event-day logistics.

Flexible ways to contribute
Season Coach
For season-long coaching appointments, responsibilities may include helping with selection, leading one or two team sessions per week, coordinating with other coaching staff on training plans, and traveling with the team to key competitions when schedules allow. Coaches are expected to contribute to a structured and collaborative environment rather than operate in isolation.
Guest Lecturer
For guest lecturers, specialist coaches, and practice judges, the work is more targeted. You may be invited to run a workshop, judge a block of trial debates, deliver event-specific feedback, or support short preparation phases before major competitions. These roles are ideal for people with strong expertise but limited long-term availability.
Practice Judge
Judge blocks of trial debates, provide adjudication feedback, and support selection through independent evaluation. These roles are ideal for experienced adjudicators who want to contribute to the national program.

Standards and student care
All adults working directly with Team China students must be prepared to meet CSSDA's safeguarding and professional-conduct expectations. We want adults who are ambitious for students, but also respectful, reliable, communicative, and aligned with the educational purpose of the program.
How to express interest
If you are interested in coaching, lecturing, judging practice debates, or supporting Team China in another adult role, please contact CSSDA at chinaschoolsdebate@gmail.com. You can also reach out through our Facebook page. Team China alumni, WSDC and WIDPSC community members, and experienced China-based educators are especially encouraged to get in touch.
Strong coaching should help students navigate their commitments rather than ignore them. We want a program that is demanding, developmental, and sustainable.
